Legal pair go wild in charity challenge

"Although it was definitely outside our comfort zone, we didnt hesitate to sign up as we have seen first hand the support that Headway provides to people with brain injuries and their families."

Two intrepid Midlands lawyers have trekked, abseiled and zip wired their way through the Lake District to raise funds for a charity that supports people living with brain injuries.

Senior Associate Rachael Lomas and apprentice solicitor Alyisha Arblaster, who are part of the specialist Serious Injury and Medical Negligence team at FBC Manby Bowdler, successfully completed the Go Wild for Headway corporate challenge in June.

The two-day challenge involved a series of hair-raising activities in the Coniston area of Cumbria, organised as part of charity’s 40th anniversary. The duo decided to take on the challenge because of the firm’s close association with Headway.

Rachael said: “The challenge consisted of scrambling up Raven’s Crag in Coniston in wet and windy conditions and abseiling 75ft down into a quarry.

“We took a zip wire 50ft above a quarry before donning wet suits for some waterfall jumping, caving which included a jump into water in pitch black conditions and swimming across a lake.

“Although it was definitely outside our comfort zone, we didn’t hesitate to sign up as we have seen first hand the support that Headway provides to people with brain injuries and their families.

“Whilst our primary aim is to secure settlements and damages following a serious injury or clinical negligence, we work closely with Headway and other organisations to arrange care and support packages for our clients and we understand how much value they add to people’s lives.

“It was a pretty intense two days and there were some very scary activities but the thought of why we were doing it kept us going.”

Rachael and Alyisha are well on the way to achieving their £700 target and pledges can be made here: virginmoneygiving.com/Team/FBCManbyBowdlerPITeam
