Adroit to Provide EQs First End of Life Benefits Package

"Now, more than ever, employees are focused on the health and wellbeing of their families, and employers are sensitive to the need to support their team in planning for the future."
Tim Brooks, Head of Engagement Platforms at EQ

Adroit, the legal, end of life planning and bereavement specialist, has signed a deal with EQ (Equiniti Group) to provide a package of services as part of EQ’s flexible employee rewards programme.

The move is part of EQ’s ‘hire to retire’ proposition for employee reward schemes that allows employers to select benefits that match the needs and preferences of their teams. Adroit is the first provider to add end of life planning and bereavement services to EQ’s wide-ranging portfolio and the package will be led with a tailored will writing service.

Tim Brooks, Head of Engagement & Platforms, HR Solutions at EQ comments: “Now, more than ever, employees are focused on the health and wellbeing of their families, and employers are sensitive to the need to support their team in planning for the future and coping during difficult times.

“Less than half of UK adults have a will and, of those who do, many have not updated it as their circumstances have changed. By adding a will writing service to our flexible rewards programme, we can offer employers an opportunity to support employees and their families with important, and often neglected, life planning.”

The will writing and bereavement services package offered by EQ through Adroit also allows employers to protect their businesses from the loss of productivity and extended absences often associated with bereavement. The will writing services include options to extend the benefit to employees’ partners, thereby overcoming the risk of employees being affected by lengthy probate issues following the loss of a partner. Alongside the will writing service, EQ will also be able to provide companies with access to a wide range of Adroit’s other bereavement services, including legal advice, financial planning and bereavement support and counselling.

Lisa Lund, director at Adroit explains: “Grief is something that touches everyone at some point in their lives and yet it’s something that we cannot plan for. It affects individuals differently and sometimes people need help to deal with both the practical and emotional aspects of bereavement.

“The flexible benefits programme that EQ is able to offer thanks to this deal provides a way for companies to support their employees during difficult times. Putting will writing at the heart of the package not only provides a tangible and immediate benefit for employees but also enables employers to encourage their team to plan ahead for the wellbeing of their family, should the unthinkable happen.”

The will writing service will be provided by Adroit’s UK-wide panel of vetted and quality-monitored legal firms, who will also offer a range of additional services including probate, conveyancing and family law. Bereavement support and counselling will be provided by Adroit’s not-for-profit arm, the National Bereavement Service, which has trained advisors to provide guidance and signposting on practical and emotional matters, and a partnership with St Giles Hospice to offer BACP-registered bereavement counselling.

EQ will be able to offer its clients a dedicated freephone number for employees to access Adroit’s services, along with real-time management data.

Tim Brook adds: “We are constantly looking for employee rewards that are relevant and valuable to both our clients and their employees, and the end of life and bereavement solutions offered by Adroit are an ideal fit for that ethos. Our clients want to be able to demonstrate to their teams that they care about every individual and we’re confident that this addition to our flexible rewards scheme responds to that trend.”
