The London office of Gateley Legal has announced the appointment of two new partners, Kenneth Maxwell to the Banking and Finance team and Martin Montgomery to the Corporate team.

Kenneth joins Gateley Legal from Veale Wasbrough Vizards where he specialised in Finance Property as a partner since 2017. He previously worked at Dundas and Wilson for ten years before the company joined forces with CMS. Kenneth has 30 years’ experience in the legal sector.

Martin moves to Gateley Legal from Rosenblatt solicitors where he worked for 11 years, specialising in mergers and acquisitions, capital markets and private equity. He joins recent partner hire Oliver Harker to cement Gateley Legal’s national capital markets practice in the City of London.

Kenneth and Martin chose to move to Gateley Legal due to its diverse team of experts and the comprehensive legal advice they give to companies of all sizes.

Kenneth commented: "Gateley Legal is held in very high regard by its clients, employees and other law firms. The Banking and Finance team is particularly renowned, with a real depth of knowledge.

They have experienced double digit growth in terms of revenue and people since the group floated in 2015, which makes the group an exciting company to be a part of. I’m looking forward to joining and working closely alongside my colleagues as the London team continues to expand.”

Martin praised the team’s market leading position in capital markets transactions. He said: "Gateley Legal has substantial experience in advising on capital markets work and the team’s extensive relationships with the advisory community in London is second-to-none. They are ambitious for success with a breadth of expertise that is unrivalled by other national and regional law firms.

“I’m looking forward to working in partnership with clients and other stakeholders in the business, expanding into new areas and being part of a company that continues to grow.”

On appointing the two new partners, head of Gateley's London office and corporate partner, Paul Hayward, said he was delighted to welcome Kenneth and Martin to the team and was confident that their qualities, contacts and track record will strengthen the practice and help deliver a stand out service for clients.

These appointments are made on the back of number of recent partner hires and promotions at Gateley Legal in London. Since the turn of the year, the legal practice has appointed five partners in its Corporate, Tax and Banking teams and promoted eight employees internally. This is all in line with Gateley Legal’s vision to grow the practice and invest in top legal talent.
