An art-loving law firm has opened up its offices to showcase the work of local artists over the summer.
Ipswich-based Prettys officially opened a five-month exhibition at its Elm Street headquarters featuring a range of pieces from local aspiring and established artists.
The exhibition was launched in the run-up to this year’s Art Eat Festival in September – a bi-annual celebration of art, street food, music and the community on the waterfront in Ipswich town centre.
Prettys is no stranger to the arts – the law firm regularly holds similar events at its offices, in association with the university’s and local artists’ studios.
The firm’s CEO Ian Carr said: “One of our core values is giving back to the community and this is just one way in which we can do it.
“Helping local artists exhibit their work is a great thing to do and our offices really lend themselves to doing this. It also allows us to invite guests and clients to an event that is different.
“We have many art admirers in the office and a number of them including myself have bought some great pieces in the past. Our senior associate, Claire Barritt, is an aspiring artist herself.”
The event was attended by the Mayor of Ipswich, Councillor Jan Parry, the artists and some of Prettys’ current clientele.
The Art Eat festival, is expecting up to 20,000 visitors and will take place from 21-22 September. It will also feature music, entertainment and a whole host of food and drink options.
Some of the project artists who will be in attendance include leading artists Cydney Barrows, Everton Wright, Zoe Power and Artful Skecha.
Joining Prettys as sponsors of the event is Ipswich based Healeys Printers; account manager Jenny Willings said: “Suffolk has many creative hubs all around the county so it’s fantastic to see local art being exhibited centrally in Ipswich. We are really pleased to be sponsoring the Art Eat festival.”
