Care home residents fly the flag for Shoreham at Worthing Pride

"You might not think a pride event is the obvious place to take a group of our residents but at Cavell House we promote inclusivity and encourage all our residents to be who they are."
Nikki Stevenson, registered manager

Residents from Cavell House have been spent a colourful day enjoying the sights and sounds of Worthing Pride.

Four residents made the trip in the home’s minibus, accompanied by staff, to the event celebrating the LGBTQ+ community. They enjoyed the spectacle of the festivities.

Nikki Stevenson, registered manager at Cavell House said: “You might not think a pride event is the obvious place to take a group of our residents but at Cavell House we promote inclusivity and encourage all our residents to be who they are.

“Everybody had a fantastic time – the sun was shining and the music got us all boogying.”

Victor, age 84, said: “We had a lovely day. It was the first one I’ve been to but I loved it! The colours were amazing and the music had us all tapping our toes. We met some interesting folks, some of them were wearing fabulous outfits.”

Cavell House forms part of Larchwood Care and is managed by Healthcare Management Solutions. 79% of Larchwood Care Homes are rated as ‘Good’ or above by the CQC, above the industry average.
