Cheshire-based investor backs female wellness brand

Free Soul, a rapidly-growing female-focused wellness business, with a strong D2C offering, has attracted a seven-figure investment from Sonny Arora, a Cheshire-based investor in European health and nutrition start-ups.

Cheshire-based investor backs female wellness brand

"Free Soul is an exciting new brand with the required product portfolio and management to drive growth to significant scale. Critically, it also recognises the importance of the science in nutrition."
Sonny Arora, Free Soul

Sonny Arora has a successful background in food ingredients, having established the world’s leading independent, non-GMO and natural emulsifiers business, trading in 40 markets globally.

Free Soul was launched in 2018 by Arjun Sofat, a former investment banker, who joined forces with  Associate Professor and Clinical Nutritionist Dr Cunliffe, PHD (RNutr), to develop a range of wellness products to meet the unique nutritional needs of women. The company has seen triple digit growth year on year and successful international expansion.

Inspired by the way the women in his life used exercise and nutrition to deal with the challenges of a serious family health scare, Arjun has filled the gap he saw in the market for a positive and empowering brand that encourages women to unleash the healthiest and happiest versions of themselves.

Free Soul’s targeted formulas work to support female hormonal balance, bone density, and energy and promote a healthy metabolism using premium, quality ingredients.

The portfolio has a range of unique offerings, with a plant-based focus, including Protein Blends reinforced with vitamins, minerals and superfoods; Complete Meal Blends; and the newly-released Vitamin Gummies range, which has delivered impressive UK sales in just a few short months.

Sonny Arora commented: “Free Soul is an exciting new brand which has the required product portfolio and management to drive growth to significant scale. Critically, it also recognises the importance of the science in nutrition. This is a central criteria for all our target investments in the health, nutrition and nutraceutical sector. We look forward to working with Arjun and his team.”

Arjun Sofat, CEO and Founder of Free Soul, commented: “We started Free Soul with the dream of supporting women across the globe with their nutritional and wellness needs, and are incredibly grateful that so many have already embraced the brand.  We have found with Sonny and his team, an experienced world-class partner, who believes in, and supports, our vision. We look forward to Free Soul becoming synonymous with female wellness more broadly as we continue to scale and launch the next raft of products.”

Sonny Arora will join Arjun on Free Soul’s Board of Directors, which also includes Trading Director Alex Brown, ex-Morrisons and Asda, and AJ Karwa, formerly of Grant Thornton and Deloittes, who joins as Corporate Finance Advisor.

Sonny Arora was advised by Addleshaw Goddard, Manchester office, led by Roger Hart and Joshua Nock.
