"I said goodbye to my life as a stressed-out NHS Director and hello to a new life running a quirky wedding venue complete with llamas in bow ties!"
Celia's business was saved overnight when she put her dad's bowties on her llamas... today she shares her story as part of National Bow Tie Day (August 28th)
Former NHS Director turned entrepreneur and author, Celia Gaze, 50 founded the multi award-winning Wellbeing Farm https://thewellbeingfarm.co.uk/ - Celia's business was established in 2013 and was originally intended to be a corporate events venue focusing on wellbeing, but a difficult business journey, (which was published into a book in 2020 ’Why Put a Bow Tie on a Llama? How a crazy idea can change your life and transform your business) resulted in The Wellbeing Farm turning into a multi award-winning wedding and events venue based in Edgworth, Lancashire.
How a crazy idea can change your life… Celia said; “Has lockdown given you time to rethink your life? Perhaps you don’t want to go back to that dead-end job that pays your mortgage but crushes your mojo? Are you frustrated about getting another year older but still no closer to following your dream? Have you thought about changing your career but you are too scared to take the plunge? You’ve had this idea but you are wondering what people will think of you? Can you really make it happen? What do you need to do to get it out of your head? How could it become a reality? I was that person and decided to do something about it. I said ‘goodbye’ to my life as a stressed-out NHS Director and ‘hello’ to a new life running a quirky wedding venue complete with llamas in bow ties!”
Celia now runs an incredible award-winning wedding venue, but has recently had to pivot following lockdown from it purely being a wedding venue to the wellbeing farm she origionally intended it to be- although Celia is still hosting a couple of very small weddings, she has also opening her incredible venue (including the Llama farm) as a wellbeing hub for businesses - the ‘North West Centre for Business and Team Wellbeing’ has emerged a much needed space for teams to gather post-lockdown and focus on wellbeing, culture and adapting to a new climate and landscape.
Celia is a recognised voice in the corporate wellness space and has used lockdown to develop a new business. Celia, has always been passionate about wellbeing, and even embarked on her own personal wellbeing project ‘100 Days to Wellbeing’ through lockdown - which had amazing results.
Celia said; "My personal ‘100 Days to Wellbeing’ journey has made me read, study and implement 100 topics covering all elements of wellbeing. Throughout the 100 days, I’ve loved studying and putting the things which really help your wellbeing into action – who’d have ever thought there was so much underpinning the word ‘wellbeing’. There is no one singular thing you can do to improve your wellbeing, it’s a combination of different factors. I have discovered, there are however, a few elements through which are critical to happiness and wellbeing: kindness, social connection, time affluence, mind control and health habits."
