NHS, Healthcare Firms & Businesses Join with BBC Star to Beat Social Isolation

"We hope that by presenting these webinars and working together with the wider community, we will upskill healthcare providers, beat social isolation and help patients live more safely."
Dr Ruth Chambers, OBE

NHS online medical portal partner digihealthwell is working in collaboration with fellow Staffordshire healthcare partners, businesses including the NHS and a BBC star to deliver two free webinars.

Due to isolation increasing because of the current Covid-19 pandemic, the webinars aim to teach virtual attendees about how those who are vulnerable or housebound can use a range of digital aids to reduce their social isolation.

The webinars will also discuss how vulnerable or housebound people can live more safely with assistive technology.

Taking place on Tuesday, 16th February at 6pm, and Thursday, 25th of February at 12:30pm, the webinars are designed for any person or business in, or interested in the healthcare sector.

This includes, but is not limited to, leaders in the NHS and social care, clinicians, social prescriber, carers, or members of voluntary group organisations as well as community leaders.

The two free webinars additionally cover topics such as digital assistance, how assistive technology can help those who are vulnerable and the mental health benefits of using digital technology.

The webinars feature a range of guest speakers from across the country including Dr Ruth Chambers OBE, Staffordshire STP’s clinical lead for technology enabled care and digital workstream who commented; “the webinars are a great opportunity to help key teams in the healthcare industry learn about why digital assistance is the way forward for so many.

Ruth Chambers OBE continues, a lot of vulnerable people who are currently isolating or are housebound are unaware of the potential help available for them. We hope that by presenting these webinars and working together with the wider community, we will upskill healthcare providers, beat social isolation and help patients live more safely”.

The most recently announced guest speaker is Reverend Richard Coles, presenter of BBC Radio 4’s Saturday Live show and a frequent face on TV screens across the UK.

Nationally renowned for his expertise, Reverend Richard Coles is set to share his specialist knowledge surrounding the importance of beating social isolation. It is hoped that the TV and radio personality will attract attendees from across the UK.

Also speaking at the webinars are representatives from the Port Vale Foundation Trust, Staffordshire County Council, Stoke-on-Trent City Council, Keele University and Wavemaker.
