"The morning at Mills Meadow was a huge success. We are so proud of Rose for having her head shaved, and for helping to raise over 600 for Macmillan."
On Friday 27 September, the people of Framlingham got together over coffee and cake to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, and one member of the team went to great lengths to support the cause.
The team at Care UK’s Mills Meadow, on Fore Street, got their bake on and whipped up homemade sweet treats, and the people of Framlingham were invited to support a fantastic cause by joining them for a nibble and a natter with residents. As part of the event, Rose Hill, a member of the home’s care team, also decided to brave the shave.
Every year Macmillan organises the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in kitchens, offices and village halls across the globe to fundraise for people living with cancer. Since the very first coffee morning in 1990 over £200 million has been raised for the charity, enabling it to support individuals from diagnosis, through to treatment and beyond.
Sally Shadbolt, home manager at Mills Meadow, said, “The morning at Mills Meadow was a huge success. We are so proud of Rose for having her head shaved, and for helping to raise over £600 for Macmillan.
“There are 2.5 million people living with cancer across the UK, so the important work that Macmillan does to provide support is vital. Not only did the coffee morning give us the chance to raise funds for the services it offers but it also gave us the wonderful opportunity to welcome local people, family and friends into our home.”
Rose added, “I had been thinking about shaving my head for Macmillan for a long time, and this year, I finally plucked up the courage to go through with it. The charity has changed so many people’s lives and it feels fantastic to be able to give something back.
“It was fantastic to have so many people come along to Mills Meadow to support me, and I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who sponsored me!”
