What we can learn from our fathers and our children

How do our fathers inspire us? How do we learn from children in the family too? Anishya Kumar explores how even a simple round of golf can teach us about nutrition and business

What we can learn from our fathers and our children

"Golf as a sport does not require sudden bursts of energy unlike other sports. Energy needs to be fed & sustained over several hours during the round"
Anishya Kumar

How do the kids inspire me? I often ask myself. Sometimes even a simple round of golf can teach us about nutrition and business. My children often play golf with their father who enjoys being their "Daddy Caddy".

Golf closely parallels real life with its highs & low. I see my kids experiencing that while playing & competing competitively. The key things it teaches them;

-       Keep each shot in perspective

-       Manage your emotions

-       Maintain a positive outlook and focus on the task or shot in hand

Above all it teaches them integrity, discipline & respect. These are all life long skills which are needed for business and have been invaluable for me at Zinda Foods.

As parents, we have to guide our children through this approach and help them. Nutrition too plays a key role when kids play a competitive sport. Golf as a sport does not require sudden bursts of energy unlike other sports. Energy needs to be fed & sustained over several hours during the round. With children often this is a difficult thing to manage. Sudden sugar spikes or a drop in energy levels can adversely affect the physical & mental ethos while playing that round.

When playing golf we also choose slow release snacks, that provide balance and nutrition. Fresh snacks like bananas, non acidic fruits like pears, nuts or hummus with fresh veggies. No energy bars, fizzy drinks, juices, sweets or chocolates. Nothing processed which is the concept behind our natural AirWraps. This inspired me on my journey of creating products that would give us all nourishment with optimal energy balance. Our aim with Airwraps is to keep us fuller for longer, and I started this as a mission at home which has now transcended into my company Zinda Foods.

So this Father's Day is dedicated to the father of my children and the dedication he puts in making them better human beings, both on or off the golf course.
