"Its been one of the most anticipated updates among our users as being able to access high-quality visuals is a common hurdle for those in the foodservice industry."
Erudus’ development team has spent the last 12 months building the software and working closely with manufacturers who have uploaded the images directly.
The Image Hub contains a variety of shot types including pack shots and lifestyle setting, providing wholesalers with a range of options depending on where they want to use them.
Erudus has also made the visuals available via its API, which means they can be pulled directly into a wholesaler’s e-commerce or mobile ordering platform.
The images are accessible in print and web qualities, which further streamlines the process for supporting printed sales and marketing activities including special offers leaflets and price brochures.
Lancashire-based Birchall Foodservice has been part of the steering committee involved in early discussions about the launch, and its business support manager Adam Hope said: “It’s something the industry has needed for a long time.
“It’s revolutionary and the benefits extend across multiple departments including marketing, sales, and IT. In addition, we can upload all of our own images and share them with our customers at the click of a button.”
Jon Shayler, chief operating officer at Erudus said: “It’s been one of the most anticipated updates among our users as being able to access high-quality visuals is a common hurdle for those in the foodservice industry.
“This milestone is going to save wholesalers a significant amount of time when it comes to refreshing their print brochures and updating their ordering platforms. In addition, suppliers will experience a significant reduction in requests from wholesalers for high resolution product pictures, which will free up personnel to focus on other areas of the business.
“We have many integration partnerships and the Image Hub fits seamlessly via an API into popular e-commerce and mobile ordering platforms like RNF’s Beam Commerce, SwiftCloud, and Lady Lodge Systems.
“We expect more than 100,000 product pictures to be available by the end of the year and would urge all manufacturers to share their images with Erudus.”
Erudus is the leading foodservice data pool software and hosts the specifications of major manufacturers including Heinz, Premier Foods, and Unilever.
