The new additions went through an extensive benchmarking exercise, and were unanimously voted in by Fairway’s members.

The range includes chicken fillets and bites in a traditional tempura recipe coating, southern fried chicken goujons, plain breaded goujons, battered chicken nuggets, and battered chicken steaks.

The new products are sourced from high welfare chickens that are independently audited and certified to ensure customers receive high-quality ethical products.

In addition, the new chicken products are processed under strict quality control standards, with all breast meat products trimmed by hand.

And customers will receive the chicken in brighter, more modern-looking packaging in user-friendly case sizes.

Purchasing manager of the 19-member buying group Keith Hepton said: “We genuinely believe this range to be the best quality available in the marketplace.

“These changes revamp our own-brand chicken products to provide our members with higher quality chicken and increased variety.

“We constantly listen to, and act upon, feedback from our members, and the new additions illustrate this.

“Fairway has total control over the product’s specifications and in addition, members benefit from supply continuity and excellent value for money.

“We’re always on the look out for new and exciting additions and I’m confident the chicken products will be a big success for our members and their customers.”
