The authentic Italian eatery located on Old Hall Street, is serving up gluten-free variations of 95% of its menu to not only provide ample choice for coeliacs, but to also cater for the health conscious as a result of the diet’s nutritional benefits.
General Manager of Trattoria 51 Toni Karemanaj said: “To mark the beginning of the New Year, many people are looking to kick-start a healthy eating diet. Having already established ample gluten-free offerings, which have become a big hit with our coeliac diners, we want to extend the options to people wanting to adopt the healthier approach.
“Research suggests that by consuming freshly prepared gluten-free food, the body is able to digest meals better and is therefore less susceptible to gastric problems such as stomach cramps and bloating. Likewise, by cutting out processed carbohydrates, people are prone to lose weight easier and also feel more energetic throughout the course of the day.”
Having built on 13 years of food intolerance research, the restaurant was the first to partner with the market leading gluten-free retail brand, DS Gluten-Free, to offer a wide range of options such as pizza, pasta and risotto.
Toni added: “Here at Trattoria 51 we like to create a diverse offering that everybody can enjoy, including those with certain food intolerances and dietary preferences. The majority of the dishes on our existing menu can be adapted to give gluten-free diners an array of options that would usually be off limits to them.
“After noticing an increase in the amount of people opting to lead a gluten-free lifestyle for various reasons, our aim is to combine food quality with extensive choice and full flavour. With that in mind, our fully trained staff members are on hand to provide our guests with accurate food information to ensure peace of mind and an enjoyable dining experience.”
