Koukash launch new events programme with a Perfect Pairing

Koukash Bar and Restaurant, located in Liverpool’s DoubleTree by Hilton, has welcomed the launch of its new events programme by announcing an evening of fine wine and food pairings on Thursday, May 2.

Presented by New Zealand vineyard owner Brian Bicknell of Mahi Wines, guests can enjoy a variety of hand selected tipples complemented by a delicious pairing menu designed by the restaurant’s own ‘perfect pair’, husband and wife duo Marc and Claire Lara.

Head chef duo Marc and Claire, who was named the winner of ‘Masterchef: The Professionals’ in 2010, will incorporate Koukash’s signature ‘Mediterranean meets Merseyside’ style cuisine into a six-course pairing menu, adding international flair to the culinary experience thanks to its collaboration with the industry leading wine merchant.

Owner of DoubleTree by Hilton Liverpool Marwan Koukash said: “We’re delighted to welcome Brian to Liverpool to showcase New Zealand’s finest wines at our first special event of this kind. As a port city, Liverpool has always been a mixing pot of exotic flavours and culinary discoveries from the other side of the world with some delicious results and we can’t wait to showcase these to our diners.

“Our Koukash kitchen is the perfect example of the magic that can happen when different corners of the world come together, with Marc’s French flair and Claire’s roots here in Merseyside combined with the Mediterranean influences our menu is so well known for. We’re very excited to throw a little of New Zealand into that mix courtesy of the arrival of the Mahi Wines team and to enjoy pairing our signature dishes with reds, whites and roses sourced from the region of Marlborough.”

The menu, which will see Porcini Risotto with Wild Garlic Cream Sauce paired with an Oaked Sauvignon Blanc and a Roasted Lebanese Lamb served with a Pinot Noir, will be the first in a series of similar culinary experiences and events that Koukash Bar and Restaurant will host in the coming months as it expands it’s offering.

Marwan added: “Located within our historic building on Sir Thomas Street, we have a number of fantastic events spaces including our recently relaunched 1883 Bar in addition to our restaurant which gives us the capacity to host a range of events from fine dining to live music and we can’t wait to welcome new and familiar faces to enjoy all that we have to offer in the coming months.”
