"There's a dizzying collection of cool, inspiring traiblazers also making their way in the industry at the market and even though it's only our first weekend, we feel right at home..."
Popular bar/restaurant Izakaya enjoyed a successful first weekend at bustling Baltic Market in Liverpool as the Castle Street brand transported their acclaimed cuisine and vibe across town.
A collaboration between Kurt Wilson and Harry Marquart, Izakaya served up temptations such as Steamed Pork Gyoza, Tempura Fish, Chicken Katsu, Squash Katsu and Pork Belly Bao.
Taking their influence from Japanese cuisine and culture, Harry commenting on Izakaya's launch at Baltic Market said:
"Baltic was as frenetic as Tokyo at the weekend and we loved it! We managed to sell out by late Sunday night and are extremely grateful to everyone who supported us. We also attracted many enquiries about Izakaya on Castle Street too and were left feeling pretty humbled and delighted by the whole experience."
Izakaya was launched in December 2016 to critical accalim and had planned to create pop-up restaurants in its second year.
Harry added: "It was perfect timing really when we were approached recently by the guys at Independent Liverpool to occupy a space in the market. We were already fans...they've observed us growing the business on the freshness of our ingredients and now the Baltic has proved a great showcase for us to further spread the word.
“The Independent guys have created a vibe that feels like an extension of ours in Castle Street with its buzzy late bar so it's like an ideal collaboration. There's a dizzying collection of cool, inspiring traiblazers also making their way in the industry at the market and even though it's only our first weekend, we already feel right at home and in great company too."
