Bespoke interiors specialist, House of Nostalgia, has completed its first commercial hospitality commission, providing the design and decoration of an historic Cheshire pub to turn it into a boutique hotel.
The Black Swan pub in Cheshire, which dates back to the 1600s, was facing closure when it was purchased by a local building company (North Cheshire Developments) and extended, to turn it from an old coaching inn into a stylish family and business destination just outside Manchester.
House of Nostalgia was appointed by award winning Cheshire architects Innex Design, who oversaw the project, and briefed to provide soft furniture, furnishings and finishes to decorate the new atrium dining area, the main bar area and snug, and each of the newly created 14 bedrooms.
With the focus on heritage, House of Nostalgia created an individual theme for each bedroom, applying a contemporary twist with stunning Nina Campbell wallpaper on feature walls, to contrast with the original beams and woodwork. Classic high quality furniture and soft furnishings were sourced and each bedroom features a painting by local artist Dave Tudor, depicting real farms from the surrounding Cheshire countryside. The atrium dining room, bar and common areas, meanwhile, also combine the traditional with the contemporary, with a high end finish throughout.
The commission marks a new era for House of Nostalgia, as owner Katie Catelani comments:
“We are traditionally domestic interior design specialists and while we have worked in the hospitality industry in the past to create one off items, this commission was a first for us and the feedback has been very positive. We’ll now provide this service to other commercial leisure ventures, offering a one stop shop for all interior design, finishes and soft furnishings.”
