"We are thrilled to be named The Craft Gin Clubs best gin for 2019."
Master distiller and former chef, Neil Harrison
A Staffordshire gin distillery has scooped a prestigious accolade in one of the leading industry awards.
Nelson’s Distillery, located in Staffordshire, claimed the best gin in the Craft Gin Club awards for its Gluggle Jug gin tipple.
Regarded the Oscars of the gin world, the Big Gin Awards judging panel included household names such as Dragons Den’s Sarah Willingham and award-winning drink writers and presenters Joel Harrison and Neil Ridley, the awards are a celebration of the finest craft gins, tonics, snacks, gin stories and community of 2019.
With five product categories, including best gin, best tonic, best alternative mixer, best snack and best cocktail of the month, winners are selected based on a combination of Craft Gin Club member feedback and survey scores, followed by a public vote.
Master distiller and former chef, Neil Harrison, said: “We are thrilled to be named The Craft Gin Club’s best gin for 2019.
“Distilling started as a hobby for me, but my love for gin and experience as a chef has enabled me to produce combinations that really stand out in an ever-competitive market.
“Gluggle Jug gin, a London Dry gin, combines bold flavours with a variety of sweet and sour citrus to build on a juniper base, with an aromatic green cardamom to complement the sweetness and spice of pink peppercorns and hibiscus.
“At Nelson’s, we have always been confident that the quality, purity and taste of our gins are second-to-none, so it is great to hear that the public voting for these awards agrees.”
The distillery produces a range of gins, rums and vodka and releases special editions on a regular basis, many of which are available through UK stockists including Waitrose, Fortnum and Mason and several independents.
