Cookery School at Little Portland Street are offering a scholarship place, free of charge, on their Cook's Certificate in Food and Wine, for someone with a socially driven foodie goal. Apply by midday Wednesday 1st September and be ready to start on Monday 6th September 2021!
The scholarship provides an opportunity for someone who could not afford to take the course otherwise. Please share with your communities and anyone you may know who is eligible and available, to find a great candidate who can join the next generation of sustainable cooks!
Students receive six weeks of intensive hands-on learning and leave with several qualifications, including Level 3 Certificate from Open College Network (OCN) London and a Level 2 Award in Wines from the Wine & Spirits Education Trust (WSET).
"Nine years ago we launched our Cook's Certificate to offer an intensive programme for people looking to work in the food industry. The course is based on education and a solid teaching of cooking principles, it covers ingredient sourcing, meal planning, menu writing, budgeting, sustainability and a raft of different culinary techniques." said founder Rosalind Rathouse.
You’ll learn with our expert chefs, including expert baker and food writer, Dan Lepard and chocolatier, Jon Hogan. Pre-pandemic we were able to offer a week of work experience in top professional kitchens, such as Artizian, Hakkasan, Honey & Co, Moro, The Cinnamon Collection, The Caprice Group and Woodhouse Group Restaurants. However with the hospitality sector having been badly hit by the pandemic, this may not be possible for this session of the Cook's Certificate.
Since its inception the Cookery School have developed the curriculum, engaged with restaurants and caterers across London and were able to offer work experience placements and as a result thay have seen alumni go on to work in professional kitchens, as well as launch their own businesses.
