In response to increasing consumer pressure, instigated by the Attenborough effect, and recent pledges from the UK government to eliminate plastic waste by 2042, Zinda Foods are ahead of the game and pleased to announce that their AirWraps will now be packaged in fully sustainable 100% bio-degradable packaging. After extensive research by the company’s founder Anishya Kumar, the recyclable inner plastic trays of the AirWraps will now be replaced with eco-friendly sugarcane waste.
The switch over to sugarcane waste (bagasse) is a time consuming process, and to phase out completely requires two stages. Phase one is converting the current PET trays into food grade & BRC compliant paper trays. Phase two kicks in once the proprietary sugarcane mold is made. We hope to roll out in first quarter 2020.
Due to the high cellulose and fibre content of sugarcane waste (bagasse) the inner trays are also microwaveable. Besides the heat-resistance, the sugarcane waste trays are also grease and moisture resistant, making them completely perfect for the chilled AirWraps. The packaging comes from a natural renewable resource, is 100% backyard compostable and certified under EN-13432 and US FDA approved.
