A slice of celebration at Scunthorpe pub

A Scunthorpe pub has welcomed community partners from Macmillan Cancer Support to celebrate its first birthday.

A slice of celebration at Scunthorpe pub

"Our local neighbours are at the heart of what we do, so it was great to be able to mark the reopening with the team at Macmillan, who we support on an ongoing basis as a venue for meetings and through"
Miriam Oliver, General Manager

Representatives from the Scunthorpe branch of Macmillan, joined Miriam Oliver, general manager at the Greene King Ashby Lodge, for a special ‘cake and cuppa’ event, whilst also cutting the ribbon to a new dining area in the family friendly pub on Brigg Road.

Miriam comments: “We’ve had a fantastic time celebrating our first birthday and the special cake event with our friends at Macmillan is just one of several ways in which we’ve marked the anniversary. The pub has gone from strength to strength over the last year, which is why we have launched a new dining area, with tables now bookable at weekends or on an exclusive basis for private functions.

“Our local neighbours are at the heart of what we do, so it was great to be able to mark the reopening with the team at Macmillan, who we support on an ongoing basis as a venue for meetings and through raffle prizes. We’ve already had great feedback on the revamped dining area, with the diary getting busy with family events over the coming Spring months.”

Ashby Lodge is famed for its carvery which is served fresh every day and includes a choice of three succulent hand-carved roast meats that have been slow cooked for up to 14 hours, or a Camembert and beetroot open pie. Guests can fill their plate with a choice of trimmings including eight seasonal veg and potato accompaniments. Alongside the carvery is a full menu, which is filled with pub classics, such as hand-battered cod and chips, British beef and ale pie, and 28-day aged steaks served fresh from the grill.

The drinks range has been selected by experts to ensure the bar is well stocked with all the favourite tipples – from a wide range of wines, beers, craft beers and ales, cocktails and spirits, together with a great choice of soft drinks. Additional cask ales are now available on the bar, as well as great existing drinks deals such as two bottles for £6* and prosecco for £9.99 available Friday-Sunday*.
