"Weve had a fantastic time celebrating the reopening, and our Braintree neighbours really came out to support us. Our guests are at the heart of what we do, so it was great to be able to mark the reop"
Jerry Milward, general manager at The Astronomer
The new name respects local historical figure, James Challis, an astronomer from Braintree best remembered for his role in the discovery of Neptune, in 1846.
The popular venue has been significantly refurbished throughout to create the ideal dining destination, whatever the time of day or occasion.
The revamped venue, on Avenue East, reopened on Friday 11 October, when the celebrations began and continued throughout the weekend, The Astronomer Hungry Horse team also welcomed Councillor Angela Kilmartin to try out the new facilities.
Jerry Milward, general manager at The Astronomer Hungry Horse, said: “We’ve had a fantastic time celebrating the reopening, and our Braintree neighbours really came out to support us. Our guests are at the heart of what we do, so it was great to be able to mark the reopening with the local community.
“It was a pleasure to welcome Councillor Angela Kilmartin to enjoy the new offering too – they really helped to kick off the festivities. We’ve already had great feedback on the revamped interior, the team and I can’t wait to welcome new and returning visitors to The Astronomer Hungry Horse very soon!”
The new-look pub will offer a range of great value food and drinks deals for locals to enjoy throughout the week, including bottles of El Mazo wine for £5 on Wednesdays, and ‘Treat the Family’ bundles for £17, available on Saturday and Sunday. Guests can choose from the Pub Faves menu, Chicken Bucket Deal or Pizza Deal, all of which come with the Ultimate Big Candymania to share.
