Accountancy firm HURST appoints contractors for Stockport office upgrade

""

Accounting and business advisory firm HURST has appointed contractors for a six-figure refurbishment of its main Stockport office.
The upgrade will begin next month and is expected to take 12 weeks.
It will involve an overhaul of the 10,000 sq ft, four-storey building on Lancashire Gate, Tiviot Dale in the town centre, as well as external works.
HURST has appointed Morecambe firm Contact One as the main contractor following a competitive three-way pitch. The quantity surveyor is Baker Roberts, of Colwyn Bay, and Manchester-based Sheila Bird Group is the interior designer.
The project will create a new ground-floor reception and flexible working area, an extension to the seminar suite taking capacity from 40 to 60, and the conversion of loft space into informal breakout and working areas.
The fit-out will include new carpets, fixtures and fittings, and upgrades to kitchen and washroom facilities as well as the fire and security system.
Another new aspect will see the firm offer meeting rooms and workspace to clients on a complimentary basis with free Wi-Fi and refreshments, mirroring the Skyline Business Lounge at HURST’s offices on King Street in Manchester city centre.
The Stockport office, pictured, is HURST’s main hub with over 70 staff based there. It is at capacity and the refurbishment will enable the firm to accommodate 120 staff.
Chief executive Tim Potter said: “Our Stockport office has served us well but we need to create space for more staff as we grow, with nine people joining HURST before Christmas this year and substantial further recruitment in the pipeline.
“The project also gives us the opportunity to bring our business services and tax teams together on one floor, creating a more effective working environment.
“At the same time, we have a thriving seminar and events programme and we require a larger suite to meet demand for places.
“The flexible working area on the ground floor will reflect changing working practices, as our staff are increasingly out on the road meeting clients and have less need for a permanent desk at our Stockport office.
“Our concept of offering space to our clients has worked well in Manchester and it seems a good opportunity to replicate this in Stockport.
“Overall, the refurbishment should meet our needs for many years to come.”
