Former Pensions Minister Sir Steve Webb was the keynote speaker at an event this week in Lancashire.

Sir Steve, one of the architects of pension freedoms, spoke about the changing pensions landscape and the associated opportunities and risks.

He is currently the director of policy at the financial services mutual Royal London and was joined by John Wyn-Evans from Investec at the event organised by Acumen Financial Partnership, a West Lancashire-based IFA.

Angela Maher, Acumen’s Managing Director, said:

“After 18 years in Parliament as an MP and five as a Government Minister, it was fascinating to hear about Sir Steve’s experiences and of course his expert knowledge about pensions policy.

“Pensions have been at the forefront of the general election campaign with all the political parties acknowledging the issue of an ageing population and the challenges it brings.

“Both speakers gave us an insight into their respective areas and how best to invest at a time of economic and political stress.”

Sir Steve Webb, Director of Policy at Royal London said

“It was great to meet the team from Acumen and discuss topical pensions issues with clients in what was a lively evening.”
