Beaumont College Students In National Art Competition Final


Four students at Beaumont College, Lancaster, which supports individuals with complex physical needs, have reached the finals of a national art competition.

Four students at Beaumont College, Lancaster, which supports individuals with complex physical needs, have reached the finals of a national art competition.

The Unique Arts Awards finalists, from Salutem-operated Beaumont College, are:

  • Liam Worsley entered a striking photo of a man in a face mask with his silhouette in the background.
  • Jordan Beach’s entry was an atmospheric photo of a tree-lined lake.
  • Greer Hatchell created a paper collage of a woman’s face.
  • Bradley Shuttleworth’s entry was a saxophone surrounded by musical notes and patterns of multi-coloured paint.

Liam, Jordan and Greer who are all in their final year at Beaumont College, Bradley is about to finish his second year.

The Unique Art Awards are a competition for disabled people between the ages of nine to 21 years old. Prizes include up to £600 for entrants and £3,000 for their school/college art department.

Liam, who has already had some great successes in art through his time at Beaumont, said, “I was very excited when I found out about the competition and I'm looking forward to organising a trip to London for the finals.”

“We've all done different things in art; our projects are all different and this is a really good way to end the year.”

Jordan, a keen photographer, added, “I'm pleased I got into the final with my pictures, I like using my camera.”

Acting principal of Beaumont College, Chris Lowcock, said: “The ethos at Beaumont College is to help students achieve their full potential and develop their interests including their artistic abilities. The aim is for students to gradually gain the skills and confidence to move to the next stage of their lives.

“We are extremely proud of our students. To be shortlisted in this national art competition is a fantastic achievement. We wish Liam, Jordan, Greer and Bradley the best of luck for finals. They already are winners in our eyes.”

An awards ceremony, at which the winners will be announced, is being held on Saturday September 4 at the Copthorne Tara Hotel, in Kensington.

The awards focused on subjects comprising Corona, my happy place, community, how the world sees me and plastic.

Beaumont College, is part of Ambito Care and Education, which is part of Salutem.
