Redrow Homes Thames Valley, currently building at Abbey Farm, on Lady Lane, officially presented the 19th Swindon Scout group with a £500 donation.

The donation was part of Redrow’s community fund initiative, which was created to support various community projects led by local groups, organisations and individuals in line with Redrow’s commitment to creating thriving communities.

The 19th Swindon Scout group provides an exciting programme of fun and adventurous activities designed to equip young people with skills for life. The donation was used to purchase a mobility scooter for the group’s oldest Scout leader, Frank Crawley, enabling him to continue to attend weekly Scout group meetings.

Sarah Simpkins, Chair of the 19th Swindon Scout group, said: “We are really grateful for Redrow’s donation, which has allowed us to give back to Frank, and thank him for all he has done for us.

“The activities we provide for local young people encourage social interaction and increase confidence, helping them develop skills that they can use for life. Now in his 46th year as a Scout, Frank’s commitment to the 19th Swindon Scout group has made a huge impact on so many of the town’s young people and local community.

“On behalf of everyone at the 19th Swindon Scout group, I would like to say a big thank you to Redrow Homes for their support.”

Sarah Boyce, Sales Director for Redrow Homes Thames Valley, said: “Here at Redrow Homes, we are committed to creating thriving communities and we’re really excited to support local initiatives and groups wherever we can.

“Frank and the 19th Swindon Scout group play an important role in the development of Swindon’s young people, and we are proud to be able to give back to the group and help Frank continue with the great support that he offers the group.”

Situated in north Swindon, Abbey Farm enjoys a quiet residential setting and currently offers four-bedroom homes starting from £394,995. With the A419 just a couple of minutes away, and the superb facilities of Swindon just down the road, the development is ideal for families and commuters alike.
