Miller Homes obtains planning validation for Manchester development

"We are delighted to announce that our application for the Northenden campus has been accepted"
David Brackley, Land and Technical Director

Award-winning homebuilder Miller Homes has submitted its plans to Manchester City Council to transform The Manchester College’s Northenden campus into flagship sustainable homes for south Manchester, in 2022.

The proposals represent a multi-million-pound investment into the local economy, supporting over 90 jobs in the process.

David Brackley, Land and Technical Director for Miller Homes adds: "I would like to thank those residents and stakeholders who took part in our consultation and provided us with their valuable feedback. The Northenden campus presents a real opportunity to build quality, sustainable and affordable homes in south Manchester in a way that respects the local area and delivers real choice for existing or aspiring homeowners.”

Close to Wythenshawe Park which boasts a number of local amenities and transport links, the proposal by Miller Homes represents a multi-million-pound investment into the local economy, as well as providing a boost to local shops and businesses in the area from future residents.

The Manchester College is building a brand-new campus in the city centre and is also investing in its other sites in Openshaw, Harpurhey and more locally at Wythenshawe as part of a £139m investment in its Further and Higher Education facilities. The College will continue to provide education and training facilities at the Northenden Campus until September 2022 when its new facilities are ready. The College has communicated its plans to colleagues, existing students, as well as to new applicants and feeder schools and outlined to them the opportunities and advances of study at its other sites, as well as the support available. Once this relocation is complete, it is Miller Homes’ ambition to build sustainable homes on this site which will be a natural extension to the community, benefitting existing and new neighbours in the community alike.

The planning application can be viewed at the Council’s website, using the application reference 131147/FO/2021. You can find out more information about the development by calling 0800 298 7040, or emailing feedback@millerhomesnorthenden.co.uk
