Donation has club bowling for joy

"We are so pleased that we have been able to support a local club that is used by so many people in the area"

A Roade bowls club is set to benefit from improved kitchen facilities after receiving a grant from a leading national housebuilder.

Roade Bowls club was gifted a £1,000 donation from Persimmon Homes Midlands as part of its Community Champions initiative.

The national match-funding scheme seeks to support groups and charities working to improve the quality of life or environment for local people.

Over the past year, Roade Bowls club has been upgrading its venue to make it user-friendly for people in the village and has even introduced Sunday lunch carveries for the elderly. The donation from Persimmon Homes will fund the replacement of the fan extract system in the kitchen which has recently broken and is beyond repair.

Claire Dearsley, sales director at Persimmon Homes Midlands, said: “We are so pleased that we have been able to support a local club that is used by so many people in the area.

“We hope that the donation will allow the club to fund the replacements they need to continue to improve this much-loved community hub.

“Selecting our monthly winners is always a difficult task, but we urge any good cause to get in touch with an application.”
