Harrogate Charity welcomes new Trustee to its board

"I have known Dee for many years and her commitment to the association has never faltered. She has supported us with the delivery of excellent educational events in her region."
Dawn Stott, CEO of AfPP

The Association for Perioperative Practice has elected a new trustee to join its board of professionals.

Dezita Taylor-Robinson, Interim Course Leader and Surgical Care Pathway Leader for the Foundation Degree in Health & Social Care Programme at Birmingham City University joins the board to support the organisation as they strive to further support students, theatre nurses, operating department practitioners and all perioperative practitioners across the UK and internationally.

After qualifying as an operating department practitioner in 2006, Dezita has dedicated the last five years to delivering perioperative education aligned to the development of knowledge and skills within the areas of anaesthetics, surgery and recovery, as well as patient safety, leadership, mentorship and perioperative innovation.

Her clinical experience as a team leader within perioperative practice coupled with her senior lecturer duties of ensuring programme designs and delivery comply with quality standards and regulations will allow her to offer direction to the board, communicating the wants and needs of students and the perioperative workforce.

Commenting on her election, Dezita said: “It is such a privilege to undertake a trustee role for not only a successful and well-respected association, but one which is inspirational and has given me so much support and guidance throughout my own perioperative career.

“As an existing AfPP regional lead, it is an honour to become part of the AfPP board, safe-guarding the sustainability of a much-loved association.

“Being an AfPP Trustee means that I will be able to pursue my commitment to the delivery of safe and effective perioperative care, lifelong learning and the development of leading-edge education and clinical practice.”

Dawn Stott, CEO of the association said: “I have known Dee for many years and her commitment to the association has never faltered. She has supported us with the delivery of excellent educational events in her region.

“She is a perioperative professional with a great ethos towards learning and sharing knowledge, which is exactly what we want from our Trustee colleagues.”

The Association for Perioperative Practice (AfPP) is the UK’s leading membership organisation for operating department practitioners, who put patient safety at the heart of everything they do.

For over 50 years they have worked to enhance skills and knowledge within operating departments, sterile services departments and associated areas.

Dezita becomes the 11th member to join the association’s board alongside CEO Dawn Stott, President Tracey Williams, Vice President Julie Peirce-Jones, David Robinson, Chloe Rich, John Dade, Angela Cobbold, Kathryn Topley, Ros-Moore and Heather Darwen.
