During National Bed Week, staff at the hotel adorned their favourite pyjamas and took it in turns to take a well-deserved nap in the lobby between 7am and 7pm, all to raise money for Simon on The Streets.

The charity works across Leeds, Huddersfield and Bradford to provide emotional and practical support for those who find themselves homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, those with behavioural and mental health issues as well as those struggling with an addiction.

The initiative formed part of the hotel’s ‘spirit to serve’ programme, a commitment to give back to the local community.

Rob Bainton, operations director at Leeds Marriott Hotel, said: “Simon on The Streets does some fantastic work in our community to ensure those struggling with homelessness can get the help they need and we’re very pleased to have been able to raise this amount of money for them.

“The team were very keen to take part, not only because it’s a great cause but also because it involved getting some shut-eye for charity!”

Aissa Gallie, development manager at Simon on The Streets, added: “We’re very grateful to Leeds Marriott Hotel for doing what they can to raise funds for our charity. The sleepathon was a fun and creative initiative and it’s this kind of enthusiasm that makes all the difference.”
