Charities enhance brand promotion skills thanks to PR and marketing conference

Charities and community groups from across North Wales and the north west have benefited from a free PR and marketing event for charities.

Charities enhance brand promotion skills thanks to PR and marketing conference

"The presentations were perfectly pitched from hearing about fundraising techniques to a useful reminder from the media as to what works for them."

Organised by North Wales-based digital PR agency Outwrite PR, the all-day conference aimed to develop skills including social media, photography and media relations in order to help the organisations with their brand and growth.

The event, held at Moneypenny in Wrexham, was held as part of Outwrite’s 25th birthday celebrations. The PR and communications agency utilised its contacts to bring together speakers from a range of industry backgrounds, including a BBC journalist, brand strategist, and the chief executive from Wales Air Ambulance, Angela Hughes.

Attendees also had the opportunity to network and share their own experiences with other organisations.

The conference culminated in a panel event, was hosted by BBC Wales’ Bethan Williams and its line up featured Steve Stokes, PR manager at Wales Air Ambulance, Sally Moth, head of US marketing at Moneypenny, and Anthony Bullick, managing director of award-winning Outwrite PR.

Brand strategist Sid Madge and Lisa Roxby, head of marketing communications at Papyrus, a suicide prevention charity also spoke at the event.

Anthony said: “Firstly, we want to thank all of the speakers who shared their wealth of expertise to the attendees. The amount of value and insight was incredible.

“The question and answer session with the panel was a highlight of the event, as we asked attendees to write down a question at the start of the event, and if this wasn’t answered by the speakers, they had the opportunity to ask the panel. This meant everyone came away with at least one burning question answered.”

Benefiting from the conference was Danielle Rush, regional communications manager for Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).

She said: “Arranging an insightful training session for charities and an opportunity to network, was a fantastic gesture from Outwrite PR.

“It was so useful to meet communications professionals and representatives from other charities and learn from their experiences.

“The presentations were perfectly pitched from hearing about fundraising techniques to a useful reminder from the media as to what works for them.

“I thoroughly enjoyed the day and have made some contacts who I will definitely stay in touch with in future.”

Founded in 1994, Outwrite has grown into one of the most respected modern-day PR agencies in North Wales and Cheshire.

The agency specialises in integrated PR and SEO (search engine optimisation), crisis PR, and social media training.
