Staff at Cavell House care home have raised in excess of £1000 in the Race for Life.

On Sunday 30 June, 13 runners on the Cavell House team took part in the Brighton 5k for Cancer Research UK. The participants, each of whose lives have been touched by cancer, dressed as pink flamingos to complete the race.

 

Nikki Stevenson, home manager at Cavell House, said: “Nowadays, everybody has been touched by cancer in one way or another.

 

“The team from Cavell House all wanted to run the race because each one of us has been affected by the horrible disease – whether friends, family, residents in our home, or colleagues.


“I’m really proud of all our ladies who participated – we’re pleased to play an active role in our local community, whether by participating in charity events or welcoming our neighbours into the home.”

 

Pat, a resident at Cavell House, said: “I’m so proud of all the carers, especially as they all turned up for work on the Monday with a smile on their faces as usual.”

 

Cavell House forms part of Larchwood Care and is managed by Healthcare Management Solutions. 79% of Larchwood Care Homes are rated as ‘Good’ or above by the CQC, above the industry average.
