A Manchester-based travel agent has been named the best business travel consultant in the British Isles.
Leanne Roberts, from Diversity Travel, was crowned the UK & Ireland’s 'Business Travel Agent of the Year' at the annual awards of industry bible the Travel Trade Gazette.
Agents from Manchester-based Diversity Travel have won the prestigious award for the last three years. The travel agent provides specialist travel management to the charity, not-for-profit and academic sectors.
More than 100 travel agents entered the agent categories for this year’s awards, completing written submissions that were then judged by a panel of industry leaders.
Judges said: "Leanne is someone who is used to smashing targets – from beating her sales target by 146% last year to achieving one of the highest NPS scores at Diversity Travel. A real “fount of knowledge”, Leanne regularly goes above and beyond for her clients, even using her own personal holidays to meet with hotel suppliers to negotiate rates for clients. A very worthy winner indeed.”
TTG group editor Pippa Jacks said: “The TTG Travel Awards recognises the incredible travel consultants who deliver extraordinary customer service and expertise for their customers every single day.
“TTG’s agent winners demonstrate just how much value a travel professional can add, and highlight the vibrancy and quality of the travel agent sector in 2019. Huge congratulations to every agent that took home a trophy.”
Leanne Roberts said: “I am absolutely delighted to have won Business Travel Agent of the year after 22 years in the industry, it’s a complete honour! To be shortlisted amongst the best agents in the UK was amazing but to win is a dream come true. ”
Diversity Travel’s Managing Director, Christopher Airey, said: “We’re incredibly proud of Leanne’s achievements and it’s our constant commitment to investing in good people and training that makes this, our third successive win in this category, even more remarkable. We’re already looking forward to next year!”
The TTG Travel Awards took place at the Lyceum Theatre in London’s West End on September 16, co-hosted by actress and comedian Jennifer Saunders. The glittering awards ceremony, attended by 700 travel industry figures, also celebrated the industry’s top suppliers, including airline Jet2.com; tour operator Intrepid Travel; Caribbean hotelier Sandals; and cruise line Celebrity Cruises which took home three trophies – including overall ‘Travel Company of the Year' for 2019.
