Forever Manchester reveal flagship graphic project at launch exhibition

""

On 10th November 2016, local charity Forever Manchester unveiled an exciting artistic project, Forever From Manchester, at a launch party at The Fitzgerald, in the Northern Quarter.

Forever From Manchester is a light-hearted graphic celebration of Mancunian heritage by talented illustrator James Chapman. The project fuses the past with the present, depicting a variety of legendary Mancunians, both native and adopted, in iconic Manchester settings.

The quirky collection of 9 illustrations portrays some of the city’s most famous exports, including Victoria Wood, Professor Brian Cox and Sir Ian McKellen in various locations such as Piccadilly Gardens, Victoria Station and Old Trafford.

Following the success of the charity’s collaboration with Stanley Chow and Dave Sedwick in 2015, it is hoped that Forever Manchester’s latest artistic offering will help to raise even more money for good causes across the region.

At the exhibition, artist James explained the inspiration behind his work:

“A big part of being Manc is about not taking life too seriously, and it is precisely this feeling that I attempted to capture in my illustrations. Forever Manchester do extraordinary work across the city, and I’m thrilled to be involved in this project and support a truly worthwhile local cause.”

The premise of the project was conceived by Forever Manchester ambassador and director of Realm Recruit, Duane Cormell, before being developed and brought to life by James. Meanwhile, the Realm marketing team, consisting of Katherine Memery and Dan Ockerby, were responsible for the promotion and development of the project.

As guests mingled and perused the illustrations in The Fitzgerald’s speakeasy surroundings, they enjoyed a welcome drink provided by Manchester Gin who were proud to sponsor the event. Paper for the artwork was provided by G.F Smith and printing was sponsored by Hobs. An excellent evening had by all who attended and lots of money was raised for Forever Manchester.

For those who were unable to attend the exhibition, the limited-edition artwork will be available to purchase either as individual A3 prints or a set of postcards from This Charming Manc, Forever Manchester's online merchandise shop. All proceeds raised will go towards funding and supporting community projects across Greater Manchester.

Forever Manchester is a charitable organisation that funds community projects and activities across Greater Manchester. Since 1989 Forever Manchester have delivered over £36 million into local communities benefiting 1.1million people.
