The Running Bee Foundation is launching a brand new event for spring 2020, The Knowsley 10k at Knowsley Safari on Sunday 15th March 2020.
Get your paws ready for a roar-some race in and around the beautiful grounds of the iconic Knowsley Hall and Safari. The fast, flat route passes the Hall and brings runners back to the start/finish area close to the Foot Safari.
Spectators are welcome to get in on the action as well as enjoy a fun day out with the family. Parking will be available at a charge of £5; this will allow access to the Foot Safari on the day as well as passes for the amazing Sea Lion display. There is also an option for attendees to visit the Safari Drive after the event for a £20 fee per car (this includes parking and Foot Safari).
Entry cost for club runners is £16.00 and £18.00 for standard entry. You can purchase your entry at www.knowsley10k.com.
During the race, runners will receive official chip timing, water at the middle and end of the run, and route markers at every 1km. For all who complete the race, they will receive a special eco-friendly commemorative Knowsley 10k medal and technical t-shirt.
Stephen Owen, Foundation Operations Manager commented, “We are delighted to be announcing The Running Bee Foundation’s newest race at Knowsley – it’s an incredible venue and offers something really unique to our runners. We are encouraging runners to show their inner animal and hoping some will join us to gain their personal bests (with NO CHEETAHS!). We look forward to welcoming runners on March 15th!’’
Edward Perry, Manager Director of Knowsley Safari commented, “The Safari fully supports the Running Bee’s focus on health and wellbeing by promoting the benefits of an active lifestyle and helping in the fight to reduce childhood obesity. The family environment of the Safari and the beautiful Knowsley Estate could not be a better venue and is delighted to host The Knowsley 10k.’’
All profits from the event will be donated to communities in Merseyside by The Running Bee Foundation to help create and improve health and wellbeing initiatives in the area.
This year, The Running Bee Foundation has announced its MyFirst™ initiative and is encouraging people to complete their first mile with the foundation. MyFirst™ Mile has been created to inspire and encourage communities to take a first step towards having an active, healthy and happy lifestyle.
The Running Bee Foundation was founded and is supported by Sports Tours International. The Foundation will provide grants from the profits raised from its races in Manchester, Salford, Preston, Tameside and now Knowsley to give to community initiatives in those areas and help to promote health and wellbeing as well as support the fight to reduce childhood obesity.
