Alliance launched to help improve health and wellbeing for people in Warrington

"Together we will have a louder voice to ensure the best results for peoples health and wellbeing and we really do know the people that we want to support as we are rooted in the communities."

A group of not-for-profit organisations have launched an alliance to work together to improve the health and wellbeing of Warrington residents.

The Warrington 3rd Sector Health and Wellbeing Alliance has been formed by 12 local organisations, so that they can jointly bid for work to be commissioned and have a stronger voice together. The group all signed an agreement to collaborate last week at a launch event hosted by Warrington Together.

The lead representative of the Alliance, Michael Sheppard, from Warrington Community Living, said: “Between the 12 organisations we have a strong set of skills and knowledge to work for the good of people in Warrington – covering the whole Borough as a collective.”

“It is important as third sector organisations that we have a seat at the table when it comes to deciding what is best for the Borough and the people in it and together we will have a louder voice to ensure the best results for people’s health and wellbeing.

“As local charities and community interest companies we are all values driven and a cost-effective option for commissioning – but above all – we really do know the people that we want to support as we are rooted in the communities.”

The Alliance includes a range of services and activities that will complement each other by working together from care homes, leisure centres and libraries, home support and a hospice to information and advice, counselling and housing.

Together they already deliver a combined £23 million in commissioned services, supporting 71,000 people in Warrington, employing 1190 with 1000 volunteers.

Michael added: “We are committed to working together – collaborating not competing – for the good of the people of Warrington.”
