Flame 'heats up' fundraising for Saras Hope Foundation with charity tournament

" Saras Hope Foundation is a fantastic, local charity which does so much for families in the region, and hopefully we will be able to surpass our initial fundraising target."
Jimmy Bell

Staff at Flame Heating Group are warming up for a five-a-side football tournament in support of a Newcastle-based cancer charity.

The heating and plumbing merchant is supporting and fundraising for Saras Hope Foundation, a charity which provides respite for children and young people with cancer, as well as their families.

The tournament is taking place at The Walker Activity Dome on Saturday 15th June, 1:30pm kick off, and there are still spaces available for teams to enter.

Saras Hope Foundation is Flame’s nominated charity for 2019 and it is hoping to raise at least £10,000 for the charity over the course of the year.

Since 2016, Boldon-headquartered Flame has raised in excess of £25,000 for charitable causes, which includes Macmillan Cancer Support, South Shields man Paul George, who has been battling MS, and Fighting All Cancers Together (F.A.C.T.).

Established in 2007 by Ged and Julie Hoburn, Saras Hope Foundation offers respite for children and young people with cancer and their families, which includes providing fully-funded holidays to create lasting memories with loved ones.

The charity was set up by the pair after their daughter, Sara, tragically passed away in 2001 at the age of 16, following a two-year battle with a rare and aggressive form of colon cancer.

Jimmy Bell, organiser of the tournament and Investor Director at Flame’s Newcastle branch, said: “We are always keen to engage with the community and our customers to support good causes and charity, and our football tournament has become a popular fixture in our annual fundraising campaign. Saras Hope Foundation is a fantastic, local charity which does so much for families in the region, and hopefully we will be able to surpass our initial fundraising target.”
