Making a Difference with a Fiver

Can you help feed a friend for a fiver this Christmas?

Making a Difference with a Fiver

"For many people in Newcastle, The Kitchen is the only constant in their life and the nearest they will get to having a place where they can receive friendship, a caring environment and good food."
Maureen Armstrong - The People's Kitchen

One of the North East’s best loved charity’s is inviting the kind-hearted North East public to bring festive cheer to the homeless and vulnerable.

The People’s Kitchen supports hundreds of “friends” across the city every day. Volunteers have supported people in Newcastle for more than 30 years serving up to 150 meals every session, cooking everything from scratch. The charity is run entirely by volunteers, no government funding is received, and no one is paid for their work. This year, demand for help has grown significantly due to the pandemic and the charity has had to radically change the way it operates to protect its volunteers and the people who rely heavily on them.

Once again, this Christmas, The People’s Kitchen is appealing to people all across the region to give a £5 donation which will go towards a homeless person having a hot three course meal during the winter and festive periods. Donations can be made on The People’s Kitchen website www.peopleskitchen.co.uk/donate/

“For many people in Newcastle, The Kitchen is the only constant in their life and the nearest they will get to having a place where they can receive friendship, a caring environment and good sustaining food. We’ve all been through a terrible year but for our vulnerable friends it has been so much worse. We’re reaching out to the good people of the North East and asking them to donate £5 which will help us to help so many people this winter. Unlike many other charities this year, we will be providing a much needed service on Christmas Day itself.”

Michael Spriggs, a Trustee of The People’s Kitchen once again welcomed Chris Tubman of www.NEoffers.co.uk’s generous help. “Chris does a great job fundraising on our behalf and we are very grateful. A small donation of £5 will make such a difference to one of our “friends” by providing the cost of a three-course dinner at a time when we all need that extra support and Christmas good will.”

Anyone wishing to donate can do so at www.peopleskitchen.co.uk/donate/ or www.neoffers.co.uk
