Local housebuilder supports foodbank ahead of busy Christmas period

"Were delighted to support the Jubilee Foodbank with their work, as they help so many people in the local community. "
Tonia Tyler, sales director

A £200 donation was presented to the Jubilee Foodbank Market Harborough by Redrow Homes South Midlands, currently building at Bowden Chase, Great Bowden.

The donation was part of Redrow’s community fund initiative, a £10,000 fund created to support various community projects led by local groups, organisations and individuals.

The Jubilee Foodbank donates food parcels to people who need food in and around Market Harborough, with a team of volunteers working behind the scenes to collect supplies from points at supermarkets and churches across the town, and deliver to those who need them most.

The donated funds have gone towards health and safety training for the foodbank’s volunteers, who regularly lift heavy bags and boxes while carrying out their work.

Liz Mills, volunteer at the Jubilee Foodbank Market Harborough, said: “We’re grateful for the support from Redrow, with the funds going towards much needed health and safety training which will help our network of volunteers safely lift and move supplies – particularly over the upcoming busy Christmas period.

“We support anyone who needs us, from those on low wages or benefits, through to people who have been made redundant or have difficult circumstances.

“If you can imagine the amount of food needed by a large family for three days, you can imagine the weight of the bags being carried. Volunteers also collect food given in at collection points around the town, such as supermarkets and local churches.”

Tonia Tyler, sales director for Redrow Homes South Midlands, said: “We’re delighted to support the Jubilee Foodbank with their work, as they help so many people in the local community.

“Their support spans the whole town, with help available for anyone who needs it – young or old, families or individuals. I’d like to personally thank all of the volunteers for everything that they do and I hope that the funds help them to carry out their work safely and with greater ease.”

Set in a delightful rural area, Bowden Chase offers a selection of three and four-bedroom homes starting from £299,950. The community is located on the outskirts of the popular village Great Bowden, and with an outstanding local primary school and direct trains to London from the nearby Market Harborough station, the development is ideal for families.
